BIBLE STUDY, PRAYER, and WORSHIP
Sunday morning services: Sunday School (9:30 am) and Worship and Praise Service (10:15 am). The focus is on teaching the full counsel of God’s Word with a view to glorifying God through transformed lives that both mirror and make progress in Christ-likeness. Dr. Randall Odom is our pastor/teacher. In addition, our worship and praise is God-centered and biblically oriented.Wednesday Night Prayer and Bible Study: Currently conducted at member’s homes because of limited access to the Banquet center. Dr. Odom leads a Bible study/discussion time and prayer time.
CURRENT OUTREACH MINISTRIES
Personal and Community Evangelism: Every member of Grace Church of the Carolinas is expected, encouraged, and trained to do personal evangelism. In addition, the systematic distribution of Christian literature is carried out on a regular basis in our surrounding communities.
Newspaper Articles: Our Pastor, Dr. Randall Odom, writes regular newspaper articles for two local papers (i.e. The Fort Mill Times and The Carolina Gateway). These articles are intentionally written with a focus on evangelism, Christian discipleship, and raising the community’s awareness of Grace Church of the Carolinas.
Prison to Society: This ministry involves a Tuesday night Bible study, Mentorship, Housing, and Job assistance for men who have been released after serving time in Kershaw Prison. This is presently being held at a member’s home.
Prison to Society Inside: This ministry was created at Kershaw Correctional Institute (Kershaw, SC) in order to meet a critical need in helping prepare inmates to maximize their chances of succeeding after their release. Faith-based re-entry initiatives have proven success records across the country in lowering the recidivism rates and violence in the institution. The purpose of this initiative is two-fold. Classes are designed to holistically change an inmate’s thinking and attitudes by directing his mind, motivation, and behavior towards a positive, biblical, realistic, and attainable, God glorifying, and goal-oriented lifestyle. We also seek to remove the sense of disenfranchisement among the participants by connecting them with positive peers, family, community support, churches, mentors, and others.
Prison to Society Outside: This ministry provides housing for men coming out of our Prison to Society inside program at Kershaw Correctional Institute. Each man has successfully completed our pre-release program inside the prison and either has no place to go when released from prison or needs to relocate to a more positive and encouraging environment in order to successfully return to society. Along with housing, each resident is assisted with clothing, food, transportation, and help with locating a meaningful job, a welcoming church, and access to multiple spiritual mentors.
This prison ministry is in conjunction with and supportive of a portion of El Roi Ministries, Pastor Gerry Potoka, Director
Children’s Attention Home: This mission ministry of our church helps to support young children and young women who have suffered adverse living conditions (i.e. Sexual abuse, Physical and/or Emotional abuse) but do not qualify for adoption or foster homes because of the sensitivity of their trauma due to their exposure to abuse. These children stay in the home until age 22. There is a Bible study and Christian support program (which our church members are involved with) as well as our participation in providing for their physical needs, toiletries, and various social Christian outlets. We also help to provide these girls with gifts, meals, personalized attention, etc.
The Front Porch: This is a ministry of encouragement and support to senior citizens living in area nursing homes and assisted living centers. Volunteers from our church minister in a variety of elder care facilities to these residents with music, Bible studies, and refreshments on a monthly basis.
CURRENT IN-REACH (DISCIPLESHIP) MINISTRIES
Men’s Mission: This is a ministry to men that meets monthly for Bible enrichment, fellowship, and hands-on ministry projects. It is focused on the biblical discipleship of men and is designed to train them to be productive servants in God’s kingdom.
Ladies Mission: Meeting monthly for Bible enrichment, fellowship, and practical ministry projects, this ministry is focused on the discipleship of women and training them to be productive servants in God’s kingdom.
Children and Youth Mission: This ministry involves Bible study, prayer, mentoring, recreational and ministry related activities, etc. It is intended to evangelize and disciple children and youth for the glory of God.
IMMEDIATE GOALS
A Facility, Financial, and Prayer Need
There is an immediate need to acquire a more permanent place for our meetings and ministries which is more centrally located to our focus community. Currently, we are hindered by the lack of consistent availability of the Banquet Center where we meet on Sunday morning only. All of our other ministries have to be conducted in homes or elsewhere. Nor can we invite the surrounding community to any other type of ministry that requires a facility since we have no such facility. In addition, a more permanent and available facility would enable us to expand our ministries to the surrounding community to include, but not be limited to, biblical, teaching programs on marriage and parenting, Christian financial management, biblical apologetics, etc. We would also be more able to establish a recognized presence in the community and to penetrate it for Christ if we had a permanent place to meet.
We have searched for such a place to meet and have located a facility which has possible potential for our future use. The need, of course, is the lack of financial resources to pay the lease. Being a small church, we have constant and ongoing financial restraints. This has become increasing true in light of the bleak condition of the current job market and the nation’s financial condition. It seems that there is an ongoing need in the area of adequate finances.
We also need the heartfelt prayers of God’s people. Grace Church of the Carolinas believes in the power of God to do great things for His glory and we believe that He has chosen to employ the effectual, fervent, prayers of His people to accomplish His ends. In that light, we earnestly plead with you to remember us before the throne of God’s grace as we live for and labor for our master the Lord Jesus Christ.
